GENERATING POWER FOR GENERATIONS

Our Coal Mine

Trans Damodar Coal Mine

DPL is engaged with generation of power from its thermal power station at Durgapur. The main fuel is coal which was primarily been sourced from subsidiaries like ECL, BCCL and MCL of Coal India Ltd through Fuel Supply Agreements (FSA). But there were difficulties receiving the agreed quantity and quality of coal for which station capacity could not be ascertained. Hence, it was felt for a captive coal mine which would resolve the scarcity of fuel as well as ascertain the optimum capacity utilisation.

Opportunity came when Ministry of Coal published the tender for auction of Trans Damodar Coal Mine in December 2014. DPL submitted the bid and ultimately won the mine through reverse bidding and executed Coal Mine Development and Production Agreement (CMDPA) with Ministry of coal on 2nd march 2015. Ministry of Coal issued Vesting Order for Trans Damodar Coal Mine on 23rd March 2015 with effect from 1st April 2015 in favour of DPL.

DPL engaged M/s Transdamodar Mining Pvt Ltd as the Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) for development of the mine, excavation of coal and supply of coal to Delivery Point on way to DPL Plant. And execute Coal Mining Services Agreement on 14.12.2018. After obtaining all the statutory permissions and clearances, coal production started w.e.f December 2020 form Trans Damodar Coal Mine.
